The common name of Maundy is derived from the Latin word 'mandatum' (which means an order or a command). Remember that on the Thursday before Easter, we commemorate Jesus' Last Supper with His Apostles. At the Last Supper, our Lord instituted the Holy Mass with the command, "Do this in rememberence of me".
Good Friday, 7 pm Tenebrae Service
This is the most solemn day in the Church year, as it commemorates the death of the Lord Jesus on the Cross. The Cross is venerated at this service as we extend our love and adoration to the One Who gave Himself for us. The Tenebrae service is a service of psalms and lessons, which commemorates our Lord's burial in the tomb, the lamenting holy women, and the hope of the Resurrection.
Easter Day Service, 10 am
This is the day we celebrate our Lord's Resurrection.
